Coaching Values, Philosophy & Approach My coaching philosophy is built around commitment, honesty, effort, belief and togetherness. I believe players should be held to high standards, both on and off the pitch. I have little time for excuses or players who say the right things without backing them up. If you say you’re committed to the team, your actions should show it. I want my players to have the same attitude — be honest, take responsibility, work hard and always give everything for the team. I believe effort is non-negotiable. Players cannot always control their ability, the opposition or the result, but they can control their attitude, preparation and work rate. I want players to compete in every session, support the person beside them and play every game as if it could be their last. A major part of my approach is developing belief and resilience. I want players to trust their own ability and have the confidence to make decisions, while also having complete trust in their teammates. Mistakes are part of sport, but I don’t want players dwelling on them. The mindset is simple: reset, get the next score and keep going. From a footballing perspective, I want my teams to play with speed, intensity and purpose. I encourage fast attacking play, positive decision-making, quick transitions and constant pressure on the opposition. When we lose possession, our reaction should be immediate. I want us to make the opposition uncomfortable and compete for every ball. I also believe coaching is about developing people as well as players. Gaelic football can teach young players accountability, discipline, resilience, teamwork and leadership. My aim is to create an environment where players feel supported but are also challenged to improve and take responsibility for their own development. I have 11 years of coaching experience with Erins Isle GAA Club and have worked extensively with underage players. I have also achieved Award 2 coaching accreditation with Dublin GAA and hold a Level 8 degree in Sports Management and Coaching. My experience has given me a strong understanding of player development, coaching, performance and creating a positive but demanding team environment. My long-term goal is to continue developing as a coach and to work at a higher level within Gaelic football and sport. I want to help players reach their potential, develop teams that are competitive and ambitious, and create a culture where commitment is valued, standards are high and nobody gives up on themselves or their teammates. Ultimately, my philosophy is simple: High standards. No bullshit. Maximum effort. Believe in yourself. Trust your teammates. Play for each other. Attack with intent. Pressure everything. Never give up.

5 January 2015- PresentGaelic FootballAssistant CoachSkills CoachHead CoachPlayer DevelopmentStrength & ConditioningSpeed & AgilityCoaching Responsibilities and Achievements I have been involved in coaching since 2015, initially working as an assistant coach before progressing into the role of Head Coach four years ago. Over the past 11 years, I have developed extensive experience in player development, team management, leadership, tactical preparation and creating a positive, high-performance team environment. As an assistant coach, I gained valuable experience working within a management team, planning and delivering training sessions, supporting player development and contributing to match preparation and analysis. This experience gave me a strong understanding of what is required to manage a team effectively and prepared me for the responsibility of becoming a Head Coach. For the past four years, I have had overall responsibility for the development and performance of my team. My responsibilities include designing and delivering structured training programmes, developing individual players, preparing teams tactically and physically for competition, managing match-day responsibilities and working closely with fellow coaches to ensure consistency across the group. A major focus of my coaching has always been player development. I aim to improve players individually while helping them understand their role within the team. I set clear standards, provide honest feedback and adapt my approach depending on the needs of individual players. I have also gained experience developing young players and helping them progress towards adult and senior football. One of my key achievements has been successfully making the transition from assistant coach to Head Coach and developing my own leadership philosophy. Over the last four years, I have become responsible for making difficult decisions, managing different personalities, maintaining standards and creating an environment where players understand that they are accountable for their own performance and commitment. One of the biggest challenges I have faced has been maintaining consistent standards and commitment from players while balancing the demands of work, education, adult football and other commitments. I have overcome this through clear communication, consistency and setting expectations from the outset. I believe strongly in being honest with players and creating a culture where everyone understands what is required to be part of the team. I have also dealt with challenges around player availability, injuries, confidence and changes within the squad. These experiences have taught me the importance of adaptability and squad management. Rather than focusing on the challenges, I have looked for opportunities to develop other players, build squad depth and encourage players to take greater responsibility. My coaching philosophy is based around hard work, honesty, accountability, development and a strong team-first mentality. I believe in setting high standards while also building strong relationships with players and understanding what motivates different individuals. I have no issue making difficult decisions when necessary, but I also believe players perform at their best when they feel trusted, supported and valued. After 11 years of coaching, including four years as a Head Coach, I have developed strong skills in leadership, communication, player development, tactical planning, performance management and team culture. My experience has taught me that successful coaching is not simply about what happens on the pitch — it is about leading people, creating standards, developing individuals and bringing a group together towards a common goal.
