Coach Profile for Lance Thompson

Provide performance consulting to the Cal State LA Women’s Soccer program, helping identify the measurable behaviors that influence team performance. My work focuses on simplifying complex performance problems into clear, repeatable solutions that coaches and players can recognize, train and apply in competition. The consulting process uses key performance indicators to evaluate performance beyond wins and losses and identify areas that can directly influence results.

Served as 1st Assistant Coach with the Turks & Caicos Islands National Team in FIFA and CONCACAF competition. Worked with the national team in player preparation, tactical planning and performance analysis. This experience introduced me to a KPI based approach to evaluating performance and had a significant influence on how I would later approach coaching, player development and decision making.

Founder and Performance Director of Blueprint Performance Group, a performance education and consulting company built around a simple belief: performance should be designed, not left to chance. I develop practical systems that help players, coaches, and programs identify the behaviors that drive performance and create measurable ways to develop them. My work includes player development, finishing, tactical performance, performance analysis, coach development, leadership and culture. BPG’s methodology has been applied across youth, high school, college, and international soccer environments, with an emphasis on turning complex performance problems into simple, repeatable solutions.

More than 20 years of college soccer coaching experience, including head coaching, assistant coaching and performance consulting roles. My career has included building and rebuilding programs, winning conference and regional championships, and developing players who earned All American, Conference Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and other national recognition. Players coached during my career have led their conferences in scoring and helped programs advance to NCAA and NAIA postseason competition. Over time, my approach has evolved toward using objective data and measurable behaviors to simplify the game, improve decision making and identify the areas that have the greatest influence on winning.
