Identity Verification

Identity verification adds a verified badge to your profile, signalling that Pitch Gurus has confirmed who you are. Verified users receive more enquiries and rank higher in search results.

There are two paths to a verified badge, and the one that applies to you depends on your account type:

• Coaches complete a one-off identity check using Stripe Identity from their profile page
• Service providers are verified automatically once they finish Stripe Connect onboarding, since Stripe already confirms the business owner's identity during that process

The end result is the same: a verified badge on your profile. The route to get there differs because service providers are required to complete Stripe Connect onboarding anyway in order to accept payments, so a separate identity check would be duplicate work.

Coaches: Verifying with Stripe Identity

Pitch Gurus uses Stripe Identity to verify coaches securely. The process is quick and handled entirely by Stripe, so your personal documents are never stored on the Pitch Gurus platform.

1. Go to your Profile page and find the Verification section
2. Click Start Verification
3. You will be redirected to a secure Stripe Identity page
4. Follow the prompts to upload a photo of your government-issued ID (passport, driving licence, or national ID card)
5. Complete a short selfie verification to confirm the ID belongs to you
6. Once Stripe confirms your identity, the verified badge will appear on your profile

What You Need

• A valid government-issued photo ID (passport, driving licence, or national ID card)
• A device with a camera for the selfie step
• Good lighting for clear document and selfie photos

Verification Status

After submitting your verification, you can check the status on your profile settings page:

• Pending: Your documents are being reviewed. This usually takes a few minutes
• Verified: Your identity has been confirmed and the badge is live on your profile
• Failed: The verification could not be completed. You can try again with clearer photos or a different document

Service Providers: Verified Through Stripe Connect

If you are a service provider, you do not need to start identity verification separately. As soon as Stripe Connect onboarding is complete and your account is fully enabled for charges and payouts, Pitch Gurus marks your identity as verified and the badge appears on your profile.

This works because Stripe collects and verifies the business owner's personal details (legal name, date of birth, address, and supporting documents where required) as part of Connect onboarding. Once Stripe is satisfied, that same verification covers your Pitch Gurus profile.

To get verified as a service provider:

1. Complete Stripe Connect onboarding. See Stripe Connect Setup
2. Provide any additional information Stripe requests if your account is held for review
3. Wait for Stripe to enable charges and payouts on your account
4. The verified badge appears on your profile automatically once the onboarding webhook completes

If your badge has not appeared and your Stripe Connect dashboard says onboarding is complete, contact support and we will check your account.

Privacy and Security

Your identity documents are processed by Stripe and are not stored on Pitch Gurus servers. Verification is used solely to confirm your identity and display the verified badge. For more information on how your data is handled, refer to our privacy policy.
