Invite Links

Sometimes you don't have everybody's email address, or you want to put an invitation in a WhatsApp group or a team newsletter. An invite link does that: one URL, shared with whoever you choose, redeemed by whoever has it.

The two kinds, and the difference that matters

Roster link Seat link
Made from Coaches Members
What it gives A place on your public coaches roster An employed coach seat
Cost to you Nothing A funded seat per redemption
Needs the Organisation Plan No Yes

A roster link adds somebody to the public list of coaches on your page. They keep their own plan and pay for it themselves. A club with no Organisation Plan can still use these, which is why they sit on the Coaches screen.

A seat link spends money. Every redemption takes a funded seat and puts it on your bill. Treat it with the care you would treat a company card, and prefer a redemption cap on anything you post somewhere public.

Making one

Both kinds take the same settings:

  • A label, so you can tell your links apart later
  • A role title and start date, which is what appears on the coach's profile
  • An expiry, set as a number of days from now
  • A redemption cap, up to 1000

Every one of these is optional except the role title. A link with no cap and no expiry works until you revoke it, which is fine for a private group and unwise for anything public.

Watching a link

Each live link shows how many people have used it and how many redemptions are left. A link that has been fully spent stays in the list reading zero remaining, rather than disappearing, because that is exactly the thing you need to see to know to make another.

Turning one off

Revoke it. The link stops working immediately for anybody who has not already used it.

Revoking does not undo what the link already did: people who joined through it stay joined, and the link stays on record as where they came from. If you want somebody gone, remove them as a member.

Links that carry a deal

If Pitch Gurus has arranged a deal with your organisation, a link can carry it, and whoever redeems the link gets those terms.

The link shows what it carries, so you can tell two links apart when you have made several against different deals. Whoever receives it sees the same terms you do before they accept, including the parts that ask something of them rather than give: a deal can remove the free trial, meaning the first payment is taken at sign-up rather than a month later, and it can fix the plan so there is no choice to make afterwards.

Both sides reading the same terms is deliberate. Nobody should discover a condition of a deal at a payment page.
