Profile Completion Checklist

Use this checklist to work through each part of your profile systematically. The items marked as required must be completed before your profile will appear in search results. The recommended additions help you rank higher and give athletes more confidence when deciding to reach out.

Required Fields

These fields must be filled in for your profile to become publicly visible on Pitch Gurus:

  • [ ] Profile picture uploaded - Athletes are significantly more likely to contact coaches with a photo. Use a clear, well-lit headshot.
  • [ ] Full name entered - Enter your name exactly as you'd like it to appear on your public profile.
  • [ ] Location set - Your city and country are used to match you with athletes searching in your area.
  • [ ] At least one sport profile added - You must coach at least one sport for your profile to show in sport-based searches.
  • [ ] Bio/summary written - This is your opportunity to introduce yourself and explain what you offer. Aim for at least 150 words.

Recommended Additions

Completing these sections will not make your profile visible on their own, but they significantly improve your search ranking and the impression you make on visiting athletes:

  • [ ] Add qualifications and certifications - Credentials build trust, especially with parents booking coaching for young athletes.
  • [ ] Add roles and experience - A strong experience history reassures athletes that you know your sport and have a track record.
  • [ ] Upload additional photos or videos - Action shots, training environment photos, or a short introduction video give athletes a feel for how you work.
  • [ ] Set your availability status - Letting athletes know you're currently taking on new clients can prompt them to reach out sooner.
  • [ ] Claim your profile URL - Set a custom URL slug so your profile is easy to share and remember.
  • [ ] Complete identity verification - Earn a verified badge to build additional trust with potential clients.
  • [ ] Publish your first article - Sharing your expertise through articles demonstrates your knowledge and keeps your profile active.
  • [ ] Set up billing and subscription - Ensure your subscription is active so your profile remains visible on the platform.

Profile Quality Tips

Bio & Summary

Your bio is the most read section of your profile. A well-written, specific bio builds far more trust than a generic one.

  • Aim for at least 150 words. Anything shorter may feel thin to a potential client
  • Open with something distinctive about your coaching approach or philosophy
  • Mention specific achievements, whether those are qualifications you hold, athletes you've coached to notable results, or programmes you've developed
  • Close with a gentle call to action that encourages athletes to get in touch
  • You can use the AI bio generator to draft a professional bio from your existing profile data

Sport Profiles

Specificity in your sport profiles helps athletes using filtered search find you more easily.

  • Clearly state the skill levels you work with, from beginners through to competitive athletes
  • Mention any specialisations within the sport (e.g., a tennis coach who focuses on serve technique, or a football coach specialising in goalkeeper training)
  • Be honest about the age groups you work best with. Coaching under-10s well is a very different skill to coaching adults

Qualifications

Well-presented qualifications carry real weight for athletes evaluating coaches.

  • Include official certification numbers where your accrediting body provides them
  • Always list the issuing organisation alongside the certification name
  • Keep expiry dates accurate. An expired certification showing as current undermines trust

Verification

Consider completing account verification to display a verified badge on your profile. The verified badge signals to athletes that Pitch Gurus has confirmed your identity, which meaningfully increases the likelihood that athletes will make contact. You'll find the option under your profile settings. See Identity Verification for full details.
