The difference between a coach on your public roster and a coach on a seat you fund

Employed & Listed Coaches

There are two ways a coach can be attached to your organisation. They cost completely different things, and they are easy to mix up, so this one is worth five minutes.

Listed: on your public roster

A listed coach appears on your organisation's page as somebody who coaches for you. They hold their own account and pay for their own plan.

  • Free, and no limit on how many
  • Managed under {Your organisation} Profile > Coaches
  • Shows on your public page and lends you their credentials
  • Gives you no control over their work, and them no tools through you

This is the right answer for most coaches at most clubs. Somebody who coaches a session a week and sells nothing through you should be listed, not employed.

Employed: on a seat you fund

An employed coach holds the Coach role as a member of your organisation. You pay for their Service Provider capability, and in exchange their work can be run through your organisation.

  • Takes a funded seat, charged to you
  • Managed under {Your organisation} Profile > Members
  • Gives them the selling tools through your organisation rather than their own
  • Lets you allocate service bookings to them and name them on your events

Those last two are what the seat actually buys. Nothing else on Pitch Gurus will let you hand work to a named coach, and no amount of listing somebody will do it.

Choosing between them

Ask what you need to do with the coach.

You want to Listed Employed
Show them on your page Yes Yes
Borrow their qualifications for credibility Yes Yes
Hand them a booking somebody made with you No Yes
Name them on an event you are running No Yes
Pay for their Pitch Gurus plan No Yes

If you only want the first two, list them. It's free, and it's the whole job.

Somebody can be both

An employed coach usually should be listed as well, so they show on your public page. The two are set up separately: employing somebody does not put them on your roster, and listing them does not give them a seat.

What an employed coach does not get

The Coach role grants nothing administrative. It does not let somebody manage your members, publish on your page, refund a booking or edit your details. If you want a coach to help run the organisation too, give them a role that does that as well. See Members & Roles.

A coach is also not given a roster of their colleagues. The member list belongs to whoever administrates the organisation, not to everybody in it.
