Qualifications & Certifications
Qualifications and certifications are one of the first things athletes and parents check when evaluating a coach. List the credentials you personally hold. Displaying them prominently on your profile builds trust and sets you apart from coaches who have not taken the time to list theirs.
If you run a business that uses multiple coaches or practitioners, see the service provider version: Qualifications & Certifications for Service Providers. Service providers list the credentials held across the practitioners delivering services through the business, not just the founder's.
Adding a Qualification
- Go to your Profile page and select Qualifications
- Click Add Qualification
- Enter the qualification or certification name (e.g., "UEFA B Coaching Licence")
- Enter the issuing organisation (e.g., "The Football Association")
- Set the date the qualification was awarded
- If applicable, add an expiry date
- Click Save
What to Include
List any credentials that are relevant to your coaching work:
- National governing body coaching awards (e.g., FA, ECB, LTA certifications)
- Sports science or physical education degrees
- First aid and safeguarding certificates
- Specialist training courses (e.g., strength and conditioning, sports psychology)
- DBS or background check clearances
Even if a qualification seems minor, including it adds to the overall picture of your professional background.
Keeping Qualifications Current
It is important to keep your qualifications up to date. Review them periodically and:
- Update expiry dates as you renew certifications
- Add new qualifications as soon as you complete them
- Remove or archive any that are no longer relevant or have lapsed without renewal
An expired certification displayed as current can undermine trust. Athletes and parents will appreciate accurate, honest information.
Tips
- Always include the issuing organisation. A qualification without context is harder to verify
- List your most impressive or relevant qualifications first by adjusting the order
- If you have many qualifications, focus on the ones most relevant to the sports and age groups you coach
