Sport Profiles
Sport profiles are how athletes find you on Pitch Gurus. Each sport profile you add describes a sport you personally coach, the level you operate at, and the age groups you work with. The more specific you are, the better your chances of appearing in relevant search results.
If you run a business that uses multiple coaches, see the service provider version of this guide: Sport Profiles for Service Providers. The fields are the same, but service providers describe the collective coverage of their business rather than a single coach's personal expertise.
Adding a Sport Profile
- Go to your Profile page and select Sport Profiles
- Click Add Sport Profile
- Choose your sport from the list
- Set your expertise level
- Select the age groups you work with
- Choose the sport roles that apply to your coaching (e.g., goalkeeper coach, batting coach)
- Add any relevant skills specific to this sport
- Click Save
You can add as many sport profiles as you need. If you coach football and tennis, for example, create a separate profile for each sport.
Setting Your Expertise Level
Your expertise level tells athletes how experienced you are in a particular sport. Be honest here, as athletes will quickly notice if a profile overpromises. Choose the level that best matches your actual coaching experience and qualifications.
Age Groups
Selecting the right age groups ensures you appear in searches from athletes and parents looking for coaches in your speciality. You can select multiple age groups for each sport if you work across different ages.
Sport Roles
Sport roles let you specify the positions or disciplines within a sport that you coach. For example, a football coach might specialise in goalkeeping, while a cricket coach might focus on bowling. Adding roles makes your profile more discoverable to athletes searching for specific expertise.
Skills
Each sport profile lets you add general skills that describe your coaching strengths. These could include tactical analysis, fitness conditioning, mental preparation, or technique development. Skills help athletes understand the breadth of what you offer.
Editing and Removing Sport Profiles
To edit a sport profile, navigate to Profile > Sport Profiles, find the profile you want to change, and click the edit button. You can update the expertise level, age groups, roles, and skills at any time.
To remove a sport profile, click the delete button. Note that you must keep at least one sport profile active for your profile to remain visible in search results.
Tips for Strong Sport Profiles
- Be specific about age groups rather than selecting all of them. Athletes value coaches who specialise
- Add all relevant sport roles, even if you consider some secondary to your main focus
- Review your sport profiles regularly and update them as your coaching evolves
- If you coach multiple sports, invest time in each sport profile rather than rushing through them
