Public Profile
Your public profile lets you present a separate business identity to athletes and clients. Use it if you trade as a company, run a clinic, or operate under a brand name rather than your personal name. When enabled, your business name and logo replace your personal details on your profile and across search.
Saving your public profile also creates an organisation entry on Pitch Gurus. Other coaches and providers can then link to your business when filling in their own roles and experience, which helps build trust and shows the network of people associated with your brand.
This feature is available to service provider accounts only.
When to Use a Public Profile
Set up a public profile if any of the following apply:
- You operate as a registered company, partnership, or limited entity
- You trade under a brand name (for example, "Gamebreakers" or "North Sports Physio")
- You want clients to recognise your business identity rather than your personal name
- Multiple practitioners work under the same brand and you want a single public face
If you work solely under your own name, you can skip this section. Your personal profile will continue to be shown publicly.
Setting Up Your Public Profile
- Go to My Business > Public Profile
- Upload your logo. A square image works best. You can crop and reposition the upload before saving
- Enter your business name as you'd like it to appear publicly
- Choose your business type (for example, club, academy, clinic, agency)
- Select your nearest city. This is used to place your business in location-based search
- Pick the service categories that describe what you offer. You can choose more than one. These categories are used to title and describe your business in search results
- Write a short summary (up to 500 characters). This appears under your name in listings
- Write a longer bio for your public profile page. Use this to explain your story, approach, and what visitors can expect
- Toggle Show this profile publicly instead of my personal details if you want your business identity to be visible
- Click Save
The Display Options Toggle
The display toggle controls which identity is shown to visitors:
- On: Your business name, logo, summary, and bio appear on your public profile and in search. Your personal name and photo remain private
- Off: Your personal profile is shown publicly. Your business details are saved but not displayed
You can change this at any time. It is useful if you want to set up your business profile in advance, then switch it on once everything looks right.
Duplicate Business Names
To prevent confusion across the marketplace, Pitch Gurus checks your business name against existing organisations in the same country when you save. If a similar name already exists, you have two options:
- Choose a slightly different name (for example, add a city or descriptor) if your business is genuinely separate
- Claim the existing organisation if it is yours
You no longer need to contact support to claim an organisation. The process is now self-serve, and is covered in the next section.
Claiming an Existing Organisation
Your business may already be listed on Pitch Gurus. For example, a club, academy, or federation might have been added by someone else, or set up ahead of you joining. Rather than creating a duplicate, you can claim the existing organisation and take ownership of it.
There are two ways to claim, and both are checked by our support team before they take effect. Only service provider accounts can claim an organisation, and you can hold one organisation per account.
Claiming From Your Public Profile
If the business name you enter matches an existing organisation:
- Go to My Business > Public Profile and fill in your business details
- When a match is found, a panel headed "We found an existing organisation with this name" appears
- If one of the matches is yours, click This is mine
- Optionally add a message to support explaining your role and a link, such as your website or a social media page, that we can use to confirm ownership
- The Save button changes to Claim organisation. Click it to submit
- Your page then shows a pending review banner. You can Withdraw the claim at any time while it is waiting
Claiming From the Public Organisations Directory
You can also find and claim your organisation directly from the public directory:
- Go to the Organisations directory, the "Find my organisation" page
- Search for your club, school, university, or federation by name. Matching organisations appear as you type, and a green tick means an organisation has already been claimed
- Open your organisation to view its page, then find the Claim now panel
- If you are signed in as a service provider, click Claim this organisation and confirm. Your claim is submitted straight away and you are taken to My Business > Public Profile, which shows the pending review banner
- If you are not signed in, clicking Claim this organisation starts registration. You are placed on the Service Provider Plan and the organisation step is skipped, because we already have your organisation's details. Once you finish registering, your claim is submitted automatically
Claiming an organisation does not cost anything beyond your Service Provider Plan.
What Happens After You Claim
Every claim is reviewed by our support team. You will receive an email and an in-app notification once a decision is made:
- Approved: the details you submitted are applied, the organisation becomes yours, and your public profile goes live
- Rejected: we will email you the reason. The organisation is released so it can be claimed again if needed
If you withdraw a claim before it is reviewed, the organisation is released and you are free to set up a fresh public profile instead.
You cannot claim an organisation that is already owned by someone else, or one that has another claim under review. In those cases you will see an Already claimed or Someone is currently claiming this organisation message.
Service Categories
Service categories tell clients what kind of provider you are and help your business appear in the right search filters. Pick every category that genuinely applies. For example, a clinic that offers physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, and nutrition should select all three.
Categories include performance analysis, physiotherapy and recovery, nutrition, sports psychology, strength and conditioning, talent identification, equipment and apparel, and more.
Summary and Bio Tips
- Summary: Keep it tight. One or two sentences that explain what you do and who you do it for
- Bio: Aim for 150 to 500 words. Cover your background, the sports and levels you work with, your approach, and any results worth mentioning
- Avoid generic phrases. Specific examples and outcomes carry more weight than buzzwords
How Your Public Profile Appears in Search
When the display toggle is on:
- Search results show your business logo and name
- Listing cards show your business summary
- Your public profile page shows your business bio, location, and service categories
- Direct messages and bookings still link to your account, but the business identity is what clients see
When the toggle is off, search and profile pages show your personal name, photo, summary, and bio as configured under your personal profile.
Updating Later
You can revisit My Business > Public Profile at any time to update your logo, name, categories, summary, or bio. Changes are saved instantly and reflected across the marketplace within a few minutes once search has reindexed.
